At 1000 Bamboo Tours, Responsible Tourism is a core of our organization – we live it and we espouse it.
It takes the form of gently suggesting it in all our itineraries –we leave it to our guests to accept or involve in it – monetarily or in kind. Each of our itinerary will have a suggestion regarding a cause or meeting for the benefit of the locals. We see that such interactions are fulfilling for both – the hosts and the guests and both get connected at a much deeper level, thus leaving a memorable experience to take home.
It is also in our core to contribute in the local environment that we work in. As a part of the contribution, we support various charities. Our directors are personally involved in making the lives around their communities a better place to live.
As an example, we contributed and were deeply involved in getting the poorest of the poor and the disadvantaged in getting married. Marriage is a very personal matter, however, it is the most sacred of unions and in a society still deeply steeped in social norms, it is sometimes very difficult to start a new life together.
Every year, since 2015, our directors are involved in getting such souls married, for whom it was un-surmountable to do so. Some are physically handicapped and some so poor that they could not in their wildest dreams think of marriage. We support them through foundations by getting the ceremonies organized and helping them with the bare minimum to start a good life together.
We support local charities that help in the up-liftment of the poor in the villages and towns that we travel to. Medicines and books are contributed for the children.
We are happy for our guests to contribute to any cause that they feel strongly for. We will get them in touch with the organizations, and the guest can directly transact or contribute to them, whether it be the Mother Teresa Missionaries of Charity Jeevan Jyoti home for abandoned children, home for the old infirm, or books to be distributed in schools or better still small contributions to the making of local schools.
It’s a very personal matter and we are pleased to help in any manner that we can.
At 1000 Bamboo Tours, we endorse the Global Code of Ethics and the importance of making all forms of tourism sustainable through all stakeholders taking responsibility for creating better forms of tourism and realising these aspirations and are adherents to the Responsible Tourism as defined in Cape Town
